Building a career in broadcasting is more than learning to speak into a microphone — it’s about finding your voice, telling stories that matter, and inspiring people through the power of media.
Twenty years ago, I took my first step into this world when I joined the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC) as a young freelancer — full of passion, faith, and a desire to make an impact.
Two decades later, that step has become a lifelong journey of God’s faithfulness, growth, and grace. It’s been 20 years of learning, leading, and telling stories that shaped both hearts and headlines.
How My Broadcasting Journey Began
My story began at the Ondo State Radio Corporation (ODRC), where I served as an intern in 1999 under the mentorship of the late Pastor Ayo Duyile, then Head of News and Current Affairs. He saw potential in a young intern and gave me the first real opportunity to practice journalism.
That chance opened doors to bigger stages. Soon after, I joined OSRC officially as a freelancer — and my voice met the airwaves for the first time.
I remain deeply grateful to Mr. Ladi Akeredolu-Ale, the then Director General of OSRC, who offered me the opportunity to read the news on both radio and television, and later appointed me as Government House Correspondent to the First Lady, Mrs. Olukemi Mimiko.
Those early years taught me precision, discipline, and the importance of showing up — values that remain foundational to my work in media today.
Rising Through the Ranks in Media
My career later took me to Metropolitan Broadcast Services, owners of Impact Business Radio and Impact Africa Television (IATV), under the leadership of Deacon Owolabi Oladejo.
There, I grew through the ranks — from Head of Reportorial, to Head of News, to Government House Correspondent, and eventually, to Head of Television Services (IATV).
Every role expanded my understanding of broadcasting — from storytelling and news management to leadership and team development. I learned that true media professionals don’t just report stories; they shape narratives and inspire change.

Today, that same passion has evolved into something even greater — Switch 24, a platform dedicated to helping people find, refine, and amplify their voices through public speaking, content creation, and media training.
At Switch 24, we combine the art of storytelling with digital strategy to help individuals, schools, and organizations communicate with clarity and confidence.

Lessons from 20 Years in Broadcasting
After two decades in the media industry, here are some lessons I hold dear:
1. Your voice is your value. Use it wisely and authentically.
2. Preparation births opportunity. Every microphone moment begins in the unseen place of practice.
3. Relationships are currency. The people you work with today can shape your career tomorrow.
4. Excellence never goes out of style. Trends change; character doesn’t.
5. Stay teachable. The best broadcasters are lifelong learners.
To the Next Generation of Broadcasters
If you’re dreaming of a career in broadcasting, content creation, or journalism — this is your time.
The media landscape has evolved, but one truth remains: people still connect to authenticity. Whether you’re reporting, hosting, producing, or creating, remember that you are more than your voice — you are a bridge of influence.
Broadcasting in Nigeria is rewarding and challenging, but it’s also deeply fulfilling. Every story told is a seed sown. Every voice raised with purpose makes a difference.
Gratitude and Forward Motion
As I celebrate 20 years in broadcasting, I am filled with gratitude to God, to my mentors, colleagues, and every listener and viewer who gave meaning to my work.
This journey has taught me that purpose evolves, but passion endures. And as we continue building at Switch 24, our mission remains the same: to transform voices into impact — one story, one speaker, one brand at a time.
Here’s to the next chapter.
And to the many more stories yet to be told.
