Following the Corps mandate to ensure visibility on our highways and with the imperative of achieving a hitch-free Eid-el – Kabir, amidst the Covid -19 pandemic, security challenges and the rainy season, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Oyo State Sector Command has deployed 1908 personnel, Special Marshals inclusive, 23 patrol vehicles, and a heavy-duty tow truck for the special patrol across the State.

2. The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Uche W. Chukwurah fsi made this known to newsmen in her office in Ibadan on Thursday 15th July 2021

3. Corps Commander, Uche W. Chukwurah said the Special Patrol which will commence on Friday 16th July 2021 to 25th July 2021 was to tackle the traffic gridlocks on our major roads to ensure free flow of traffic on all major corridors in the State.

4. She commended the construction company handling some portions of the Lagos – Ibadan and the Oyo –Ogbomoso Expressway for the on-going palliative work on going on this axis to ensuring free flow of traffic during this period to avert possible crashes, she enjoined the motoring public to also obey all traffic rules and regulations around construction areas.

5. Chukwurah, also stated that all logistics and other equipment such as heavy-duty tow trucks, Breathalyzers, extricating machines among others have also been deployed, and she reiterated that a 24 hours rescue team as usual will be on the ground in all FRSC formations within the state for prompt rescue services.

6. In the area of public enlightenment, she said the FRSC will sustain its aggressive Motor Park/ public enlightenment campaign across the state to ensure maximum compliance with traffic rules and regulations for a safe and memorable celebration amid Covid 19 pandemic and other security situations.

She further said that the Command will apprehend vehicles caught in the act of overloading, use of phone while driving, Driver’s license violation, Lane indiscipline/ route violation, passenger manifest violation, latching, and twist locks violation, rickety vehicles, and illegal use of Spy Number Plates among others

8. She, therefore, calls on all Oyo residents, visitors, motorists, and the general public to exhibit a high level of discipline on the road during and after the Eid-el Kabir Celebration, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and ensure maximum compliance with all directives on restrictions and physical distancing. She also calls on them to exemplify the essence of the season which is love, care, and obedience to established authority.
