Over 1,500 beneficiaries across 19 local government areas in Oyo state have been provided with agricultural inputs in a significant initiative led by Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde.

The distribution, conducted through the collaboration of Oyo-Ncares and the World Bank under the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), aligns with Governor Makinde’s commitment to supporting farmers impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kolawole Adewumi Bamigbola, the State Coordinator for Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-Cares) Result Area 2, shared that these beneficiaries include cassava, maize, rice, and tomato farmers from various LGAs.

The initiative also incorporates the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project (YEAP) beneficiaries to ensure a comprehensive outreach.

Mr. Kolawole emphasized the importance of utilizing these agricultural inputs to aid farmers and alleviate the effects of Covid-19 related challenges, as well as post-pandemic economic hardships.

The distribution has been tailored to specific farming categories within different LGAs, ensuring targeted assistance and a positive impact on food security.

Local government representatives, including Hon. Olaide Popoola Settle and Hon. Musibau Sanusi SHABA, lauded Governor Makinde’s support for grassroots farmers and urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the inputs provided.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and commitment to maximizing the benefits of the agricultural inputs for enhanced productivity.

Mrs. Olatoyosi Rashidat, a cassava farmer from Egbeda local government and a YEAP member, particularly highlighted the significance of this support in advancing modern agricultural practices and expressed her determination to utilize the resources for substantial gains in farming.
