The Oyo State government has announced the disbursement of 250 million naira school grant.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Post Primary Schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Pastor Akinade Alamu, made the revelation during a training workshop for secondary school principals held at Ibadan Grammar School.
Pastor Alamu disclosed that the grant was disbursed for distribution among all school principals in the state, addressing concerns regarding delayed payments.
He urged principals to ensure the smooth conduct of the ongoing WASC examination, emphasizing vigilance against leaks. Additionally, he stressed the importance of technology in modern education and encouraged principals to leverage it for improved service delivery, underscoring their pivotal role in shaping the performance of both teachers and students through professionalism and competence.
Representatives from the education sector expressed gratitude for the government’s initiatives and optimism about the training’s impact on their roles.
The Tutor General for Zone 3, Mrs. Sherifat Abimbola, urged principals to effectively utilize the knowledge gained.
The event featured insights from academic experts, including Prof. Francis Egbokhare, who emphasized the importance of vision and collective purpose in driving educational advancement.
Themed “Strategic Leadership for School Transformation and Outstanding Performance,” the event saw the participation of 640 secondary school principals from across the ten TESCOM zones in Oyo State.
Principals convened at Ibadan Grammar School for the final phase of the training, aimed at updating their knowledge, exchanging ideas, and charting the way forward. The workshop served as a platform for principals to exchange experiences, learn from each other, and gain insights to better serve their students and communities.
With a renewed focus on training and capacity-building, the Oyo State government aims to position its post-primary schools for excellence, ensuring they remain competitive on the national stage while delivering quality education to students across the state.
